Typical symptoms and faults in Volvo cars. We always confirm the exact cause with a diagnosis.
Oil consumption — borescope
Some 2.0 Drive-E petrol engines can show increased oil consumption. We monitor the loss and inspect the cylinders with a camera without dismantling the engine — only diagnostics identifies the cause.
Aisin automatic transmission
Jerking, harsh or delayed gear changes — we check the oil and the control unit, change the ATF and carry out the adaptation. Diagnostics will show whether that is enough.
Timing — belt
Older 5-cylinder D5 engines and Drive-E engines use a timing belt replaced at the manufacturer’s interval. When replacing it we also check the tensioner, the pulleys and the water pump.
EGR, DPF and AdBlue
In D4 and D5 diesels, limp mode, the filter warning light or an AdBlue message are typical points to check. Diagnostics will show whether regeneration or cleaning is enough, or whether a part needs replacing.
Front suspension
Knocking, play and uneven tyre wear — control arms, bushings and anti-roll bar links are worth checking, especially on the heavier XC60 and XC90. After replacement we set the wheel alignment.
Electronics and Sensus
Warning lights, control unit faults and Sensus infotainment problems — we read all the modules and look for the cause. On Recharge hybrids we check the 12V system and carry out general mechanical work.

Do you service Volvo Recharge hybrids?
Yes, in terms of general mechanical work: brakes, suspension, oils, air conditioning and the 12V system. We do not repair high-voltage batteries.
How often should the timing belt be replaced on a Volvo?
At the manufacturer’s interval for the specific engine — both mileage and the age of the belt count. We will check the exact interval by VIN.
How much does Volvo diagnostics cost?
